Find your new career FAST! Through funds provided by Pine County, WorkFast Training is a way for those who work or live in Pine County to obtain a new career (fast) for FREE. Funding provided by Pine County.

Financial assistance is also available to those who are not residents of Pine County nor work in Pine County.

Training Opportunities

Auto Technician Certificate

  • Fridays, October 23 - December 18, 2020
  • 8:00 am - 2:30 pm

Be prepared with the technical knowledge and skills to repair, service and maintain all types of automobiles. PTCC’s Automotive Technician program includes instruction in brake systems, electrical systems, engine performance and repair, suspension and steering, transmissions, drive trains, and heating and air conditioning systems.

$1,100 of Automotive tools and a toolboxes are provided to students enrolled in this Auto Technician Certificate. Upon successful completion of the course, students get to keep the tools provided. 

Basic Machining

  • Wednesdays and Thursdays, October 28 - December 31, 2020
  • 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Participants will learn basic principles of milling machine and engine lathe operation. This includes machine theory, safety and component identification, set up, tool selection and use of attachments. Students will manufacture machine
tool projects to blueprint specifications. OSHA 10 Certification included.

Basic Shop & Safety

  • Mondays and Tuesdays, October 26 - December 22, 2020
  • 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Manufacturing careers are in high demand and this course will help start that career path. Course emphasizes lean manufacturing principles, basic supply chain management, communication skills and customer service. OSHA 10 Certification included.

Business Computer Applications

  • Thursdays, October 22 - December 17, 2020
  • 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Stay up-to-date in the computer industry, including what it takes to work from home. Learn computer terminology, hardware, and software as it relates to the business environment. Students will use applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, databases and presentation graphics, as well as business-oriented internet use and the principles of professional behavior in computing. 

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

  • Saturdays and Sundays, October 17 - November 15, 2020
  • 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Working as a nursing assistant (NA) is an excellent stand-alone career or an excellent way to launch a nursing career.  PTCC’s program will prepare you with the knowledge and clinical skills to work in a variety of settings including nursing homes, hospitals, adult day care centers, personal homes, and assisted living facilities.  NA training requires just a few weeks of time and provides the information and skills needed to become a Nursing Assistant on the Minnesota State Registry.

Introduction to Welding

  • Tuesdays and Wednesdays, October 13 - December 16, 2020
  • Tuesdays from 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm and Wednesdays from 8:00 am - 1:00 pm

Learn the art and craft of welding. Be a part of a career that offers more choices of industries to work in than just about any other field. Learn about basic oxy/fuel cutting and welding, Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding and Gas Metal Arc Welding processes and the safety concerns connected with them. Explore the endless career opportunities in the high demand field of welding.

Personal protective equipment (i.e. Welding helmet, jacket, and gloves) are provided to all students enrolled in this Introduction to Welding courses. Upon successful completion of the course, students get to keep the personal protective equipment provided.
