Pine Technical & Community College is partnering with Fondulac Tribal & Community College to bring you the Remote Pilot Prep course. This course will prepare students to earn the FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificare for commercial drone operations. This course is designed to cover all the requirements and phases for drone flight operations, where safety and real-world applicability are at the core. The main objective is to prepare students to pass the FAA Part 107 Knowledge Test, obtain a certificate with the FAA that can complement a degree, continuing or professional education, and provide opportunities in the workforce.
Students will develop leardership skills, aeronautical knowledge and the ability to execute aeronautical decisino making into real-world flying missions. Adding a skill set to their careers and expanding employability opportunities in many industries with the emerging application of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS).
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Multiple measures of assessment take place allowing students to have the opportunity to demonstrate their learning in more than one way. The video instruction, quizzes, practice tests and final paper are designed to help students gain true understanding of the concepts, avoiding rote-memorization, and developing the skill of translating aeronautical concepts into real-life impact. This assessment overview provides a grading guide of what weightings can be applied to the different assessment elemnts or course components.
Different assessments will be used within the course for students to meet and demonstrate the learning objectives for the class.
Required Assessments: Video instruction, Quizzes, Final Exam
Recommended Assessments: Practice Testions, Optional Acitivities
1. Video Instruction

Each week students must view all videos from the corresponding lesson as related to the week's content and schedule. Students will have the opportunity to watch the videos from each lesson as many times as desired. It is mandatory and crucial to view all videos from each lesson in order to meet the objective for the course.

This course holds one quiz for each lesson. The quizzes will include questions from content indicated and explained in the videos for each week. A calculator and the Airman Knowldge Testing Supplment (AKTS) may be required to take the quizzes.
3. Pre-Final Practice Test
Upon completion of all nine lessons and the course reivew, students will have hte opportunity to take a Pre-Final Practice Test simulating the FAA Part 107 Knowledge Test and the final exam. The Pre-Final exam is scheduld the week before the final exam to provide students the opportunity to reflect on the learning improvements. A calculator and the Airman Knowledge Testing Supplment (AKTS) are required to take the Pre-Final Practice Test.
4. Final Exam
The final exam will follow the FAA test standards of 60 multiple-choice questions to be completed in less than 120 minutes. Per FAA standard, the minimum passing score is 70%, which is a maximu of 18 questions wrong or a mimimum of 42 questions right. A calculator and the Airman Knowledge Testing Supplement (AKTS) are required to take the final exam.
5. Final Paper - Optional
The purpose of the final paper is for students to demonstrate reflection on learning improvements from the questions answered incorrectly during the final exam, if any, and its application into real-world scenarios for safe drone operations. Students will have the opportunity to go back and watch the video on a particular topic again. this learning reflection will assist students on identifying opportuniites for learing improvement, better prepare students to pass the FAA Part 107 Knowledge Test, and managing real-life stiuations for safe drone operations.
