Certified Nursing Assistant Course

The 80-hour state approved Nursing Assistant Certificate course provides the foundational knowledge and skills needed to work in hospitals, long term care facilities, assisted living facilities, and home care agencies.  Students learn basic nursing skills including how to read and record vital signs, provide personal care, mobility assistance, and restorative care. Clinicals and Skills Refresher are included in the course.

Prerequisite:

  • Must be 16 years of age to register.
  • Background Check/Fingerprinting (must be complete before registering for the course)
  • Text Book for MN State Nursing Assistant Course
  • Scrubs & Watch w/second hand
  • Mantoux/TB Test must be completed before going to clinicals

Course fee - $899 (fee includes the book/workbook for the course

 

Nursing Assistant Refresher Course

Saturday, April 23, 2022 8am - 4:30pm. Room 150.

This 8-hour skills refresher course will help participants fine tune skills needed to work as a nursing assistant and prepare them for successful completion of the MN State Competency Evaluation. Students spend the day with a nursing assistant instructor and state tester, practicing the 21 potential skills candidates may encounter during the state exam. Each skill will be demonstrated with time allowed to practice. 

This course is beneficial for:

  • Those who desire more practice prior to the exam
  • Those who need more practice prior to a retest
  • Those who plan to challenge the test

Course fee - $99

Nursing Assistant Exam

The Nursing Assistant Competency Exam is offered to qualified candidates seeking placement on the MN Department of Health Registry, as required for employment in most nursing homes. State and federal laws require that most candidates for testing have completed a MN state-approved Nursing Assistant training program of 75 hours or more. The competency exam includes a written portion and a hands-on demonstration of nursing assistant skills and abilities. Pre-registration and payment are required. NO WALK INS ACCEPTED.
