International Students

International Student Application Requirements

 Pine Technical and Community College currently accepts M-1 International Students for Advanced Manufacturing and Gunsmithing & Firearms Technology programs only. The college is seeking certification to accept F-1 visas in all of our accredited programs.

  1. Complete the Pine Technical & Community College Application.
    • Include permanent home address and country of birth and country of citizenship.
    • Include the names and relationship to you of any dependents who may be traveling with you.
  2. Official transcripts verifying equivalency to a United States high school transcript.
  3. Additional post-secondary transcripts if intending to transfer credits (subject to U.S. equivalencies).
  4. Immunization records and/or evidence of recent physical examination (notarized).
  5. Proof of English proficiency (testing is required for all applicants whose native language is not English). Acceptable documentation of English proficiency includes:
    • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score of 500 or more (paper/pencil) or a score of 173 or more (computer)
    • Michigan Test score of 75 or more
    • Proficiency through the completion of an ESL program from a regionally accredited college or university
    • Completion of a college/university-level English college composition course.
  6. Documentation of Financial Support as needed for completing embassy requirements that you have access to at least $21,903.72-$25,617, (based on Pine Technical & Community College 2015-2014 non-resident tuition for 32 credits per year) in U.S. funds for each year of planned attendance, excluding summer sessions. This will require:
    • Notarized bank statement sent directly from the bank
    • If the account is in a foreign bank, the account must be in the student's or parent's name
    • If the account is in the name other than the student or parent, a notarized letter from the person must accompany the bank statement, verifying that the money is for the student and they will guarantee payment in full prior to the beginning of the first term

International Student Tuition and Fees (estimated 2015-2016)

International students pay the Non-Resident tuition rate of $295.93-$579.82 per credit, based on their program of choice. Estimated expenses for a full academic year (excluding summer session), based on the 2015-2016 academic year:

Health Insurance

International students are mandated to purchase a health insurance policy through the college. Pine Technical & Community College partners with UnitedHealthcare to provide student health insurance plans. UnitedHealthcare has designed a one-year, non-renewable blanket accident and sickness policy designed especially to service many Minnesota community and technical colleges. Upon Arrival in the United States

The following will be required before you are allowed to enroll at Pine Technical & Community College:

  • Date I-20 requested
  • Visa ID: type and type of entry
  • Passport ID: issue date, effective dates and issuing country
  • Temporary address in the U.S.
  • I-94
  • Port of entry in the U.S.
  • Payment of first term tuition/fees
