PTCC does not provide on-campus housing; however, many rental properties are available within walking distance. Students and their families are encouraged to visit Pine City and arrange for housing ahead of their anticipated semester start dates. It's not just all work and no play at PTCC! Opportunities for socializing, leadership and networking abound! From the Business Club to Student Senate, PTCC encourages students to get involved in Student Life.
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) prevents PTCC from sharing a student's academic record with anyone (including his or her parents, even though the student's parents may be financially supporting the student's academic pursuits). Unless the student completes a Release of Information Form indicating PTCC may share information, no information will be disclosed to parents (or anyone), except in certain emergency situations. PTCC may consider doing so on a case-by-case basis. PTCC recommends students and parents discuss ahead of time what level of disclosure is mutually expected and acceptable.
PTCC will not contact parents or provide medical, academic or disciplinary information without the student’s permission. In the case of an extreme emergency, where the student’s health is in serious jeopardy or if there is a concern that the student poses a threat to himself or herself or to someone else, PTCC may contact parents. As a general guideline, if the student is able to communicate about the situation, it is up to the student to decide whether and how to discuss any issues.
