Whether you are out joy riding alone or with a loved one; proper motorcycle training will keep you and others who share the road safe and on time! We offer high-quality professional training and education. Our instructors are certified by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) and dedicated to building and improving your riding skills.

Basic Rider Course

Course Information

Learn how to ride, and earn your motorcycle license endorsement in this 14.5-hour course featuring 10 hours of on cycle training and 4.5 hours of classroom training. Supportive and friendly instructors will teach you how to operate a motorcycle and the basic skills you need to safely ride on the street. Training motorcycles are provided for riders of all sizes. If you're an automatic scooter rider you can bring your own scooter with proof of insurance if it's 500cc or less, 400 pounds or less, in good working order and registered as a motorcycle.

MMSC provides training motorcycles in the BRC. Riders may ride their own motorcycle or scooter, 51–500cc, in the course. Motorcycles must be street legal, licensed and pass a basic equipment inspection. Riders also must have proof of insurance.

Eligibility Requirements

Participants must be able to ride a bicycle.

Riders must wear:

  • DOT-approved helmet
  • Eye protection
  • Long sleeves
  • Long pants
  • Full-fingered gloves
  • Over-the-ankle footwear

Students are strongly encouraged to bring rain gear –– courses run rain or shine.

Moped Rider Training

Course Description

The classroom-only moped course is an introduction to riding. Riders will earn a moped course completion card.

This course is required for those who do not have a driver's license, are at least 15 years of age and wish to ride a moped on the street.

Eligibility Requirements

This course meets state requirements for a moped permit and license.

  • Participants must be at least age 14 to enroll.
  • 14 year olds may take the course, but they must wait until they are 15 years old to apply for the motorized bicycle permit.

Note: A person holding a valid driver's license may legally operate a moped without a moped permit or license. Cancelled, revoked or suspended drivers are not eligible to obtain a moped permit or license.

Intermediate Rider Course

Course Information

If you are comfortable on your own motorcycle or scooter, the 5-hour Intermediate Rider Course will build upon your existing skills and knowledge. Newer motorcyclists, returning riders and experienced motorcyclists can all benefit from this course. The Intermediate Rider Course covers control, finesse, counter steering, corning, swerving and braking. Make the Intermediate Rider Course an annual tune up for your riding skills. Groups or clubs may purchase an entire Intermediate Rider Course for only $300. Passengers may participate for free.

There are no tests in this course.

Passengers may participate at no charge. Private courses are available to dealers, clubs and other riding groups at 50 percent off the regular tuition costs.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Participants ride their own motorcycle during the course.
  • Motorcycles must be street legal, licensed, insured and pass a basic inspection.
  • Riders must show proof of insurance to the instructor.
  • Riders must have a valid driver’s license with either a motorcycle endorsement or a valid motorcycle permit.
  • Riders must be proficient in the basic skills of clutch control, straight-line riding, turning, shifting and stopping.
  • Riders must have 1,000 miles of riding experience in the past year.
  • Participants under 18 must have their parents sign a waiver form prior to on-cycle instruction.
