ASSOCIATE OF APPLIED SCIENCE, DIPLOMA, CERTIFICATE

Make advanced industrial systems run efficiently and reliably. PTCC’s Automated Systems Technology AAS program prepares students to install, troubleshoot, and optimize electrical, mechanical, and automated equipment. Through hands-on projects involving computer controlled electronics, PLCs, robotics, fluid power, and industrial programming, students gain the technical depth and teamwork skills demanded in modern manufacturing. Graduates are ready for high-tech careers in automation and advanced manufacturing environments.

 

PROGRAM FACT SHEET

Students completing this program will be able to:

  • safely and efficiently start-up, shut down, operate, trouble shoot, and optimize the operation of automated systems;
  • analyze and apply scientific troubleshooting knowledge and technology in the areas of electrical, mechanical, software and program code;
  • assemble, install, troubleshoot, and repair automated systems;
  • select and apply a knowledge of mathematics, science, and technology to problems that require the application of principles and applied procedures or methodologies;
  • demonstrate professional ethics: honestly, respect, teamwork, reliability and initiative when dealing with peers and supervisors;
  • apply written, oral, and graphical communication in both technical and non-technical environments;
  • apply skills from various advanced manufacturing disciplines (i.e. welding, machining, design) to solve complex, multi-step problems; and
  • compare and contrast various manufacturing processes, including industrial equipment, and how they are used to manufacture products.
